i mean the benghazi thing, it was a mistake, a terrible thing. we don't have actually the whole story out because the other half of the story is what the cia was doing at the annex. and that part hasn't actually been released. this was an internal look at the state department. and as any good group of people do, look tough at yourself first before you look at the interconnections with the other agencies. someone else has to look at those interconnections because this panel is a panel that secretary clinton actually appointed, former joint chiefs of staff mike mullen, tom pickering, other people like this were on this panel. they looked intensively at the department. and of course you find things wrong when you look at that, and -- but the state department has been under tremendous budgetary pressure for years. and now the challenge -- and one challenge that secretary kerry is going to have is how do you measure the effectiveness of diplomacy versus the risk to your personal knell? you can't run diplomacy like drone attacks. you have to be there.

but have we seen the full fallout from benghazi yet? >> not yet. there's still areas that i'm sure congress is going to want to explore. and i think that senator graham sing correct, that secretary clinton should be asked questions that she apparently was not asked during the course of the investigation. and be held accountable for them. i think that she will be. i think she will testify very forthrightly and one of those issues where, you know, you said at the top of the department and not everything comes to your attention. what the report cited was xroes inadequacies in terms of leadership and management skills at that bureau level and the question is did any of that information ever get to her and if not why not. what can be done to prevent that in the future. you can't be 100% in preventing it in the future. but steps can be taken, secretary sclin ton has said there's a 29 recommendations she endorses fully and those have to be implemented and secretary kerry, when confirmed, will be carrying those out. >> any concern the republicans when maki

consulate in benghazi. it doesn't appear that is going to happen at this point. again she is at home, she is recovering. so that will be put on hold. secretary of state hillary clinton is of course set to leave her post. she will -- there's a lot of speculation about what's going to happen once she does that. will she run for president in 2016. i've been talking to a lot of people who are close to her, alex. they say her primary goal is really to rest. she is the most traveled secretary of state in u.s. history, having traveled to more than 100 countries. so again she did faint, suffer a concussion but she's at home, she is resting and she is being monitored by doctors. alex? >> okay, kristen welker, thank you for that update on our secretary of state. we appreciate that from the white house. let's go back now to connecticut and the developing information surrounding the shooting deaths of those 27 people at the newtown school. the location of this shooting and the young age of so many of the victims have made it particularly difficult to wrap our heads around. j
